The Heat Pump works in the same way as an air conditioner but has one additional feature. A heat pump heats up the house rather than cooling it on cold days. Heat pumps are distinguished from other heaters by their heat gain.
Wall furnaces and heaters that operate at 0 degrees Celsius outside today can produce 3kw heat for every 1kw electricity they receive. It seems too good to be true, and prompts us to ask: Why don’t we use a heat pump?

The main reason was low efficiency. Most heat pumps used low-efficiency 10 SEER air conditioning units. They could not operate at low temperatures. The 2006 ban on the manufacture of heat pumps with less than 13 SEER efficiency was implemented. The efficiency of new heat pumps grew by nearly 30% in a matter of hours and continued to rise.
Heat Pump Pros:-
1. You can use heat pumps all year. Only a few weeks in summer are air conditioners needed.
2. Heat pumps and air conditioners are becoming less expensive. The future is in ductless heat pumps. Ductless heat pumps are now $200 cheaper than comparable air conditioners. Ductless heat pumps offer a clear advantage over ductless air conditioners for their small price premium.
3. Although central air heat pumps can still be more expensive than an equivalent central air conditioner by $1000, a heat pump is still a better choice than an air conditioner if your heating needs are oil, propane, or electricity.
